REGIONAL MEETING OPENS IN NEPAL

Senior officials from a number of Asian regional organisations are holding a two-day meeting in the Nepalese capital, Kathmandu, to discuss ways of increasing economic co-operation.

The meeting which includes representatives from the South Asian Association for Regional Co-operation, SAARC, and the Association of South-East Asian Nations, ASEAN, will look at ways of building on trade and investment links.

The Secretary General of SAARC, Naeem Hassan, said the countries of the region can work together to minimise the effects of the global economic crisis.
