Peru and Ecuador sign peace treaty

The presidents of Ecuador and Peru have attended a treaty signing ceremony ending a border dispute that's been going on for almost sixty years and has led to clashes between the two countries.

The ceremony in the Brazilian capital, Brasilia, was also witnessed by representatives of the countries guaranteeing the deal.

These included King Juan Carlos of Spain, the presidents of Argentina, Brazil and Chile as well as officials from the United States and the Vatican.

The treaty establishes the frontier along the summit of the Condor mountains in a remote Amazonian region.
