Taleban complain over beards ruling

The Taleban authorities in Afghanistan have complained that their boxers were banned from a competition last week, because they had beards, and they've called for a change in international regulations to allow them to compete.

Afghanistan's team was not allowed to fight last week in Karachi because the rules say beards can hide injury, and make it difficult for judges to score.

The Taleban insist that all men wear beards, in line with the Islamic Sharia code, and say that although they want their boxers at the Asian Games in December, they won't be shaving off their beards.
