Honduras faces Hurricane Mitch

Officials in Honduras issued a warning to inhabitants of the Caribbean coast and the north of the country as Hurricane Mitch approached land on Monday.

The hurricane is expected to affect Central America for up to three days as it moves slowly westward.

Hurricane Mitch had previously brought gale force winds and heavy rains to Jamaica and the Cayman Islands, in a part of the Caribbean unaffected by last month's devastating Hurricane Georges.
