Algerian magistrates protest

Algerian magistrates have begun a three-day protest against a press campaign which they say has brought judicial institutions into bad repute.

A spokesman for the magistrates said some cases would be delayed.

The magistrates object to newspaper articles accusing them of incompetence and partiality.

A week ago the justice minister, Mohamed Adami, resigned amid allegations of corruption and malpractice.
