Truth Commission blamed ANC

A leaked document from the final report of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission in South Africa says the African National Congress -- the party of Nelson Mandela -- was guilty of gross human rights abuses during the apartheid era.

The Commission, which looked into political crimes committed during that period, accuses the ANC of torture and of carrying out bomb attacks in which civilian lives were needlessly lost.

The document, which has been obtained by the South African state broadcasting corporation, acknowledges that the ANC -- which now forms the main party of government -- was at that time waging a legitimate struggle against apartheid and its policies.
