For the first time in the history of the British pop music charts, all the top five singles are brand new releases.
The single, Believe, by the fifty-two year old Cher, went straight to number one on its release, while the next three places have also been taken by veteran performers, George Michael, Culture Club and the rock band U2.
The nineties pop star, Alanis Morissette went straight to number five.
