A football match in South Africa was brought to an abrupt halt when several of the players were struck by lightning and collapsed on the pitch.

The incident occurred during a Premier League game in Johannesburg between Jomo Cosmos and the local team, Moroka Swallows.

A Swallows player was just crossing into the penalty area when the lightning struck, and players from each side fell to the ground clutching their heads.

None of them is believed to have suffered any serious injuries.
