de Klerk expected to contest Truth Commission report

Reports from South Africa say the country's last white President, FW de Klerk, is considering legal action against the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.

The Commission's report, which is due to be released on Thursday, is said to implicate Mr de Klerk in the cover-up of state sponsored bombings.

Mr de Klerk made a personal submission to the Commission during its investigations but there have been allegations that he was economical with the truth.

A BBC correspondent in Johannesburg says he may be concerned that the release of thereport will expose the extent to which white politicians collaborated in concealing their knowledge of state-sponsored counter insurgency activity against members of the black liberation struggle.
