Mass wedding in Pakistan

More than three hundred Pakistani couples are being married today at a mass ceremony in the capital, Islamabad, organised by the country's conservative religious party, Jamaat-e-Islami.

The ceremony is taking place on the second day of a three-day party convention in which tens of thousands of activists are taking part.

Correspondents say the leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami intend the rally to be a show of force for the party, which hopes to translate its significant street support into electoral success.
