Saturday, October 24, 1998 Published at 12:18 GMT 13:18 UK UK Man charged four years after murder ![]() A 26-year-old man has appeared in court charged with murder four years after a homosexual shopworker was bludgeoned to death and mutilated. Nicholas Redding, of no fixed address, appeared before Taunton Deane magistrates in Somerset on Saturday charged with murdering Michael Fry. Mr Fry, 44, was found dead at his home in Cavalier Way, Yeovil, on 31 March 1994. Police said at the time that he had been beaten about the head with a claw hammer and an attempt had been made to decapitate him. The victim had also had been tied to a chair and his legs cut off. An appeal was made and a reward was offered by Crimestoppers but with no success. Redding, who was arrested on Thursday, spoke only to confirm his name and age during Saturday's hearing. He was remanded in custody. |
