Former Rwandan minister detained by genocide tribunal

The international war crimes tribunal for Rwanda says a former education minister, Andre Rwamakuba, has been detained to face charges of genocide and crimes against humanity.

A statement said Mr Rwamakuba was transferred to the tribunal in northern Tanzania yesterday after being arrested in the Namibian capital, Windhoek, on Wednesday.

More than thirty people have now been detained by the tribunal which was set up to investigate those suspected of involvement in the genocide of 1994.
