Israel attacks suspected Hizbollah positions

Reports from Lebanon say Israeli warplanes have attacked suspected Hizbollah positions just north of the Israeli-occupied zone in southern Lebanon.

Two missiles are said to have been fired at targets in the Birket Jabbur region in the eastern Bekaa valley.

There was no immediate report of casualties.

In a statement, Hizbollah said that it had carried out overnight raids on two positions belonging to Israel and its militia allies, the South Lebanon Army.

Lebanese radio said Israeli forces had also shelled some southern areas early today including the outskirts of al-Jabal and al-Rafi, and a disused barracks at Nabatiyah.
