Underwear thieves have stolen luxury lingerie in a raid on a fashion house.

The thieves broke into Agent Provocateur's London headquarters and stole lingerie worth £27,000.

The label's latest line of lace knickers and bras were stolen.

They also stole jewellery and 11 pairs of designer shoes.

The label is well-known for its racy underwear, which has attracted clientele such as Kylie Minogue, the Beckhams and Kate Moss.

The company's founder Joe Corre said he had been upstairs when the thieves broke in on Saturday afternoon.

"We must have interrupted them because as we came down we saw the front door open and a few boxes still in the hallway," he said.

A spokeswoman said the thieves had not made an intelligent theft.

"The collections are only sold through the company's own exclusive salon boutiques and the very nature of the designs, being so distinctive, render them instantly recognisable," she said.

"That will make it easier to track the thieves down, whatever they try to do with the collection."

The designs are favourites with a host of celebrities, including It-girl Tara Palmer-Tomkinson and Liz Hurley.

And Harry Potter author JK Rowling has been seen with a bag from the store.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said there had been no arrests.
