Man charged with rape

A man has been charged in connection with a serious sexual assault on a teenager in Lisburn, County Antrim, at the weekend.

The 29-year-old will face a charge of rape when he appears before Lisburn Magistrates Court on Tuesday morning.

The incident is alleged to have happened about 0200 BST on Sunday morning when an 18-year-old woman was forced into a car on the Belsize Road.

The police said she was then taken to Sandy Lane on the outskirts of the city.

The teenager was then abandoned near a golf club on the Belfast Road at about 0400 BST.
