Teenager charged over protest incident
Andersonstown Road, west Belfast
Alleged incident took place on the Andersonstown Road
A teenager has appeared in court charged with various driving offences including failing to stop after an accident in which a woman was injured.

The charges relate to an incident last week in which a stolen car drove at a group of protestors in west Belfast campaigning for tougher sentences for car thieves.

Stephen Finnegan, 18, of no fixed address was remanded in custody until next month, when he appeared at Belfast Magistrate's Court on Monday.

He was also charged with stealing a car, dangerous driving and driving without insurance.

He was further charged with driving while disqualified, failing to remain at the scene of an accident, failing to report an accident and attempted grievous bodily harm.

Mr Finnegan was also charged with a number of motoring offences in relation to an incident on 23 March.
