Italy hit by rail strike

A one-day strike by Italian railway workers has led to the cancellation of many train services across the country.

The railway union, Orsa, called the strike over pay and conditions.

Transport unions in other sectors have also threatened to stage a series of stoppages over the next few weeks.

Last month, millions of Italians joined the country's first general strike for 20 years in protest against government plans to reform labour laws.
