Grand Comore votes for president

Voters on the biggest island in the Comoros, Grand Comore, are casting their ballots in the second and final round of presidential elections, in what is seen as the last step in returning stability to the Comoros after five years of crisis.

The winner of the first round, Abdou Soule Ebak, a former opposition member of parliament, faces the island's outgoing governor, Bokari Abdallah Boina in the run-off.

The ballot follows a series of constitutional changes giving each of the three Comoro islands greater autonomy, introduced to persuade the two smaller islands to return to the federation after efforts to secede unilaterally.

Anjouan and Moheli have already elected their presidents, as has the Comoros federation as a whole.
