Lorry driver beaten with spade
A lorry driver has been treated in hospital after being beaten around the head with a spade in Belfast.

The incident happened after a confrontation between the driver and a man and woman who were in a car.

The attack happened on Friday afternoon, after a truck driver found that a parked Citroen Saxa was obstructing his way into Willowholme Parade in east Belfast.

When the occupants of the car, two men and a woman, returned, words were exchanged between both groups.

Once on Willowholme Parade, the lorry driver's way was blocked by the female occupant of the car.

He was then attacked by the two men.

One held him down, while the second struck him, at one point hitting the driver around the head with a spade and also hitting him with a brick.

The driver was treated for serious head wounds and a broken arm.
