World Bank loan to Eritrea
The World Bank has approved a $60m loan to Eritrea, to help it recover from its recent border conflict with Ethiopia. The World Bank said the money would be used to help 60,000 soldiers demobilise and retrieve their livelihoods. The loan will also be used to boost Eritrea's economy and re-direct public spending toward social and economic development. The period of the loan is for 40 years.
