Driver punched in robbery bid
Police have appealed to witnesses to come forward
Police have appealed for help in catching a man who punched a car driver in the face and tried to steal his car stereo.
The 23-year-old victim had been driving his Rover car in Ferry Road, Edinburgh, when he stopped to let a man cross a pedestrian crossing in rush-hour traffic. The driver, who has not been named, was sitting listening to music in his car when the man approached the driver's window, which was open.
He tried to pull the car stereo from the vehicle but the driver hit back and his attacker ran off. Police have appealed for help from people who may have witnessed Monday morning's attack. A spokesman for Lothian and Borders Police said: "This assault was a complete shock to the driver, who had stopped to let the man cross the road. "Fortunately he was not seriously hurt and we want to speak to anyone who saw the incident. "At that time of the morning Ferry Road would have been busy with people going to work and we ask anyone with any information to get in touch." The attacker was described as 5ft 9in tall and slim with short, bleached blond hair. He had been wearing a white T-shirt. |
