Widow's protest over jail term
The Balmoral paddle steamer
The couple were holding a party on the Balmoral
The widow of a man kicked to death by a disc jockey in Bristol is launching a campaign to increase the sentence passed on her husband's killer.

Anthony Cager died after being kicked in the head during a party to celebrate his 30th wedding anniversary on board the Balmoral in Bristol's docks last October.

Robert Lock, 38, from Henbury, Bristol, was jailed for four years after telling a court he had attacked Mr Cager during a drunken brawl.

Mr Cager's wife Pat said the sentence must be increased and wants the entire sentencing system reviewed.

Violence 'repeated'

Mrs Cager, who lives in Plymouth, said: "I would like this sentence to be reviewed and the judge to come to his senses and realise this man had 32 previous convictions.

"He's been inside for violence and he's come out and he's still doing it.

"In two years time he can come out and he could do it all again and someone else will be in the same position I am in."

Lock had been hired as the disc jockey for the evening on board the ship.

The attack happened when Lock became drunk.

Fatal kick

After being ejected from the ship, he kicked 53-year-old Mr Cager in the head, causing a fatal brain haemorrhage.

Jailing Lock for a further four months for assaulting a policeman who had arrested him, the judge said the offence had caused terrible grief to Mr Cager's family.

The court was told Lock had 32 previous convictions.

Mrs Cager said the sentencing system must be reviewed.

She said: "I am seeing my local MP and everyone here is backing me to get the entire justice system looked at.

"Everyone is suffering - the victims suffer through the British justice system."
