Hamiltons' accuser sent for trial
Nadine Milroy-Sloan
Nadine Milroy-Sloan was arrested in January
The woman who accused Neil and Christine Hamilton of sexual assault has been sent for trial at the Old Bailey accused of perverting the course of justice.

Nadine Milroy-Sloan, a mother-of-four from Grimsby, north-east Lincolnshire, was arrested on 31 January by officers from Scotland Yard's Serious and Organised Crime Group.

The 28-year-old was charged with falsely alleging rape and serious sexual assault leading to the arrest of Barry Lehaney, Neil Hamilton and Christine Hamilton.

Shortly after the two-minute hearing at London's Horseferry Road Magistrates Court, Ms Milroy-Sloan - charged last week 12 months after making the accusation - insisted she was innocent.

Mr and Mrs Hamilton
The Hamilton were completely exonerated

Standing on the court steps she issued a short statement through her solicitor, Stuart Cranidge.

He told reporters: "I have a very short statement to tell you the allegation is denied and will be vigorously contested.

"My client welcomes the chance to put the full side of her case.

"She also looks forward to having the opportunity to ensure that all the relevant facts will be put before the court."

'Raped in flat'

The trainee college lecturer claimed last year that she had been sexually assaulted by former Conservative trade minister Mr Hamilton and his wife.

She also alleged that during the attack in a flat in Ilford, east London, on 5 May, 2001, she was raped by Barry Lehaney, a 61-year-old retired financial adviser.

Four months later the Hamiltons were arrested and interviewed at Barkingside Police Station in London about her allegations.

They publicly denied any wrongdoing and were cleared by police three weeks later.

Mr Lehaney, who was detained at the same time, was also exonerated.
