'Limited response' to gun murder appeal
Police searching at Mr Morgan's home last week
Detectives are hunting for Mr Morgan's killer
A television appeal for information on the murder of a grandfather, who was gunned down outside his Warwickshire home, has had a "limited" response from the public.

Retired fitter Terry Morgan, 69, was shot in the chest in the driveway of his home in Ennerdale, near Leicester Road, Rugby, last month.

Detectives investigating the murder appealed for information on the BBC's Crimewatch programme on Wednesday.

A spokesman for Warwickshire Police said on Thursday that although the programme had prompted a small number of calls, detectives remained "cautiously optimistic".

"The broadcast received a limited response, however the quality of information seems high and detectives in charge of the inquiry are cautiously optimistic with the progress being made."

He urged anyone with any further information to contact officers based at Rugby Police Station.

Mr Morgan, a father-of-five, had just returned to his home after picking his wife Shirley up from work, when he was shot at close range in front of her.

She made a televised appeal for help from the public shortly after the shooting

Detectives leading the murder inquiry said they had no idea why anyone would kill Mr Morgan, who was described as "pleasant, law-abiding" man.

Two men, aged 19 and 22, were subsequently arrested, but later released without charge.
