Bangladesh exam cheats expelled

More than seven-thousand students in Bangladesh are reported to have been expelled for cheating on the first day of public pre-university higher secondary examinations.

At least ten teachers were also reported to have been suspended or expelled for their connivance in cheating.

Before the examinations began the junior minister for education, Ehsanul Huq, told the BBC that corruption and terrorism in Bangladesh had their roots in the culture of cheating -- and the government was determined to stop it.
