The Queen met the England coach and players

The Queen wished the England team good luck in the forthcoming World Cup when she met coach Sven Goran Eriksson in the latest leg of her Golden Jubilee tour.

She was also introduced to players Owen Hargreaves and Sol Campbell as she inspected the team's training camp at Bisham Abbey, Berkshire.

The Queen also asked about the climate the squad could expect during the tournament next month.

Mr Eriksson said: "She wished us good luck for the game, of course, and for the weather in Japan.

"It's very nice and I want to tell the rest of the players when I see them on Sunday or Monday.

"It was very nice for everybody. You don't see the Queen every day."

However, he said the Queen did not disclose if she would be watching the tournament on television.

Bayern Munich midfielder Owen Hargreaves, 21, said: "It's an honour that she gave us her best wishes. We're going to do the best to make everbody happy."

Arsenal defender Sol Campbell, 27, was asked by the Queen about the climate in Japan.

He said: "I said that we're going to Dubai, but you can't fully adjust to the climate."

The Queen met the players at the end of a 90-minute tour of a sporting and cultural extravaganza in which more than 2,500 local youngsters showed off their talents.

Earlier, large crowds had gathered to welcome her as she visited Aylesbury town centre.

Thousands waved flags and applauded as the she walked around the town, which is in the middle of celebrating the Aylesbury Vale in Bloom festival.

Dozens of stalls in The Market Square were decked out with floral designs.

Olympic champion

During the 25-minute walkabout, she chatted to well-wishers who had lined the market town's square.

Among those who gave the Queen flowers was an eight-year-old girl who had battled with leukaemia.

The Queen watched dance routines performed by local African-Caribbean and Indian performing arts schools.

After that she then set off on the next stage of the tour to Marlow where she unveiled a statue of Sir Steve Redgrave, the rowing champion who won five Olympic gold medals in a row.
