Four in court on terror charges
Glasgow Sheriff Court
The four men were remanded in custody
Four men have appeared in court charged with conspiracy to further the aims of the Ulster Volunteer Force.

The charges were brought under the terms of the Terrorism Act 2000.

The accused appeared in private at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Thursday.

Uniformed police officers were on duty outside the court and on the door to the courtroom during the proceedings, which lasted more than 90 minutes.

The men have been identified as Robert Baird, 46, Brian James Cairney, 40, Donald Reid, 28, and Alan Salmon, 30.

The men are all said to come from the Glasgow area, although their full addresses have been withheld because of fears for the safety of their families.

The accused made no plea or declaration and were all remanded in custody for a week.
