In pictures: Jerwood Painting Prize
Six artists have been shortlisted for the 2002 Jerwood Painting Prize.
BBC News Online takes a look at their work which is on display at an exhibition to accompany the prize at the Jerwood Space in London.
Local colour (2) by Graham Crowley, whose work is influenced by Rineed, in west Ireland
Exposed painting, vine black by Callum Innes. His paintings are described as "minimal abstractions"
Did you see that?! by Lisa Milroy, an artist influenced by her travels in Japan, Italy, North America and Africa
Mirror, Mirror by Nicky Hoberman, who works from Polaroids, distorting perspective, shape and colour
Lake by Paul Morrison, well known for his distinctive black and white landscape paintings
Nevertheless a library by Pamela Golden, who 'rebuilds' each image with thin layers of oil and encaustic on paper
