BBC News Online Scotland has been named Website of the Year at the BT Scotland Media Awards for the third consecutive year.

In this year's citation accompanying the award, the judges said: "Navigation is clear and easy and it manages to emphasise the Scottishness of the content without being parochial.

"There is much interactivity and the site is superbly maintained."

The site's editor, Mark Coyle, said: "This is yet another tribute to the hard work of the team of multi-skilled journalists who produce the content.

"Now we want to take our coverage further by introducing new features and tapping into different audiences."

Programme success

BBC Scotland's Frontline Scotland programme came top in the News/Current Affairs Programme of the Year category while BBC Radio Scotland's Good Morning Scotland was highly commended.

Other successes were: John Morrison, highly commended in News Broadcaster of the Year category; Chick Young, highly commended in Sports Journalist of the Year and the BT Scotland Award for Technical Innovation went to Saturday Afternoon Sportscene

The winners of the Scottish awards now go forward to compete with winners from other parts of the UK in the National Final of the BT UK Media Awards in London on 14 June.
