Police stopped a caravan in Cheshire
Three men have appeared before Nottingham magistrates charged with the theft of a caravan from a travellers' site.

They were arrested following a nationwide search on Wednesday for a four-week-old boy who was thought to be inside.

The baby - John Flynn - was later found safe and well with relatives in Wolverhampton.

The three men - two called John McDonagh - and Martin McDonagh, all 23, gave their addresses as Howard Court Farm, Hereford, in court on Thursday.

A fourth man - believed to be the baby's father - was arrested on Wednesday night and was being questioned.

Baby John was reunited with his mother Bridget Flynn, 19, on Thursday morning after spending the night in the care of social services.

She told police that she left him alone for a few minutes in the early hours of Wednesday morning while she went out for a cigarette.

When she came back, the caravan had disappeared from the site near Hucknall in Nottinghamshire.

A caravan was later stopped by police in Cheshire on the A500 near Barthomley at about 0700 BST.

The three men were released on bail to return to the court on 12 June.
