'Terminator' killer freed after three years
police car
Richard Allott admitted manslaughter of his friends
A manic depressive who likened himself to film character The Terminator after killing two friends has been released three years after being sent to a high security hospital.

Richard Allott, 50, killed Richard Aston and Richard Chandler, and severely injured Lee Baker when he drove into them while racing through Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, in 1998.

Allott's release, believed to be within the last month, has angered the families of the victims.

They say they have been met a wall of silence from health authorities because of patient confidentiality.

Family "insulted"

Allott was ordered to be detained indefinitely after he pleaded guilty to two counts of manslaughter at his trial at Warwick Crown Court.

Richard Aston's mother Jane said she was shocked that Allott had been released so soon.

She said: "You can get five years for stealing a mobile phone these days. It's an insult, really."

James Plaskitt, Labour MP for Warwick and Leamington, said he has written to the Home Office asking for a review of patient confidentiality.

Allot has been discharged under specific supevision conditions.
