Police arrested the man following the alleged incident
A man who allegedly took a young girl from her home in north Wales has appeared in court charged with kidnapping.

At the hearing in Mold Crown Court on Wednesday, Charles Kenneth Nicholls, 41, was accused of abducting the 11-year-old girl from Rhosnesni, near Wrexham.

The prosecution claim Mr Nicholls, who was a complete stranger to the child, approached the girl and dragged her towards his car.

Ordeal shock

It is alleged that neighbours intervened in the incident last week after hearing the mother screaming for help.

North Wales Police arrested the defendant after the girl had been returned to her mother following the incident on Tuesday evening.

He was taken to Wrexham police station and questioned for several hours.

Detectives also interviewed the schoolgirl, who was left shocked by her ordeal.

Further charges

Mr Nicholls, from Alyn Meadows in Mold, has been charged with kidnap and affray following the incident.

He has been further charged with the harassment of a woman in the Mold area on 26 April.

The defendant from Mold was in court for six minutes for the preliminary hearing before the case was adjourned for four weeks.

He was remanded in custody and is due to appear in court again on 5 June.
