Dinky toys auction
Dinky toy
The way we were:BBC TV Roving Eye Dinky
Over two thousand Dinky Toys are being auctioned

The auction could raise as much as £400,000 with some individual toys going for up to £2,500.

Max Foster was at the auction for Breakfast this morning. Click the video icon at the top right of this page to watch his report.

The toys come from the warehouse of John Kennerley, an English born collector who lives in Australia.

He has been buying Dinky toys since childhood.

He now has 16,000 but his warehouse is due to be knocked down and he feels he can no longer keep them securely.

Prices of pristine Dinky toys are thought to be rising between 10 - 15% each year.

That beats increases in stocks and shares and a better rate of return than a building society savings account at the moment.

The auction started on Tuesday evening and continues from 8am - 10.30 am today at the Community Centre, Buckingham.
