The rise of value clothing
shoppers at George at Asda
Budget fashion outlets have smartened up their image
The value clothing market is booming, with retailers like Matalan, Primark, and Asda doubling their share of the clothing market since the mid-nineties.

The research company "Verdict" says if the trend continues, more than a fifth of clothes will be purchased from value retailers by the year 2006.

Apparently, budget clothes shops have smartened up their image.

They no longer look "cheap and cheerful". They're much more like their mid-market competitors.

So, can you really pick up a stunning outfit with your groceries? Click on the video icon on the top right hand corner of this page to watch Breakfast's interview with fashion expert: Karen Kay.
