Two charged over arms find
The court appearance took place in Belfast
The court appearance took place in Belfast
Two Belfast men have been in court on Monday in connection with an arms find in the south of the city.

In the dock were Frederick Millar, 40, of Kilburn Streeet, and Wilson Whitley, 38, from Richview Street.

They were charged with having five pistols and six rounds of ammunition with intent to endanger life.

Both men made no reply when the charges were put to them.

Police said the weapons were blank firing pistols but a preliminary examination indicated two of them had been converted to fire live ammunition.

They were found in a house in Kilburn Street during a search operation last week.

Police detective sergeant Desmond Browne told Belfast Magistrate's Court he believed he could connect the accused to the charges.

The defendants were remanded in custody until 24 May.
