The parents of a woman stabbed to death in her home have spoken of their pain at losing their daughter.

The body of Wendy Holmes, 51, was found with stomach and chest wounds at her home in Buckinghamshire shortly after 2000 BST on Saturday.

In a statement released through Thames Valley Police, her parents Richard and Daphne Holmes said she was "a lovely, caring individual".

"She will be sorely missed by all the family."

'Vulnerable woman'

A post-mortem examination revealed Ms Holmes, from Deansway, Chesham, died from multiple stab wounds.

Detective Sergeant Clive Denton said: "Wendy was a vulnerable woman who thought the best of everyone."

A 48-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder has been released on bail.

Detectives are trying to piece together Ms Holmes' last movements.

They want to hear from anyone who saw her after she went to the Post Office in Broad Street, Chesham, on Saturday morning.
