What the Scottish daily papers say
What the papers say graphic
A fatal train crash at Potters Bar in Hertfordshire dominates the morning papers.

Eight people died and more than 50 were injured when a train derailed and ploughed into a station only miles from the site of the Hatfield crash.

The Scotsman reports that the safety of Britain's railways was being questioned again after the accident.

The paper also says that former Scottish National Party leader Alex Salmond will make a short return to the Scottish Parliament by the time of the 2007 election.

It writes that the move will be seen as a direct challenge to John Swinney's leadership.

The Daily Record tells how rescue workers pulled injured passengers from the wreckage of the train at Potters Bar.

Under the headline Doleyrood, the paper also says that police raided the Scottish Parliament site in an operation against benefit fraud.

The Scottish Sun says that a derailed carriage hurtled on to a crowded train station platform at 100mph in what it described as a "freak train crash".

It also reports on the operation by fraud squad officers at the Scottish Parliament's building site.

The Daily Express says Britain's rail industry was asking how another accident had occurred.
