Milly police draw a blank
Amanda Dowler in a Sussex field in September 2001
Amanda went missing on the way home from school
Police looking for missing teenager Amanda Dowler have stopped their extended search of woodland.

The area is around five miles from Amanda's home in Walton-on-Thames, Surrey.

Monday's search came after the 13-year-old's parents issued family photographs of their daughter in the hope of jogging someone's memory.

Amanda, also known as Milly, has not been seen since 21 March.

Newspaper reward

Police have already searched roads, rivers and woodland near the teenager's home.

Police earlier revealed that Amanda, known as Milly to her friends, might have been spotted at a post office in Suffolk.

The Sun newspaper has offered a £100,000 reward for information that results in Amanda being found.

They published a poster of the missing schoolgirl on Monday as the campaign continued.

Police have said they have received 100 calls since the reward was offered on Saturday.

Detectives stressed the possible sighting of Amanda in Suffolk was one of many that have been reported across the UK.

A shop worker alerted police in Ipswich on Saturday after claiming to have seen Amanda changing money at a post office.

Police seized CCTV images from the shopping centre where the post office is based but were unable to find her on the footage.

School appeals

Police alerted British Transport Police and the ferry port at Harwich as the post office worker said the girl changed £20 into euros.

Detectives will be renewing appeals at schools and colleges in the area around Amanda's home.

On Friday officers spoke at school assemblies in the area to ask friends of Milly to tell them about any of the 13-year-old's secrets.

However, Superintendent Alan Sharp, who is leading the investigation into Amanda's disappearance, said they were still appealing for new information.

"Please don't hesitate to pick up the phone," he said.

The reward hotline for information is 01483 653948.
