Assembly members consider pay rise
Stormont
Move to have rise back-dated was unsuccessful
Assembly members in Northern Ireland could be set for a pay rise which would take their salary to more than £45,000 a year.

The recommendation is in a report by the Senior Salaries Review Body.

It amounts to an increase of around £5,000 for every member.

The Assembly Commission will now consider the proposal, before deciding whether to put it to the full assembly for ratification.

The last pay rise for assembly members came in December 2000.

The 2.9% increase brought the annual salary to just over £39,000 a year.
