Further violence in Gujarat
The authorities in the western Indian state of Gujarat say three people have been killed in the latest violence between Muslims and Hindus.

More than 800 people have been killed in the past two months during communal riots in the region.

Police said two Muslim men were burned to death during protests in the Vejalpur area of the state capital, Ahmadabad.

Another man - a Hindu - was killed when police confronted a violent mob in the Khanpur district of the city.

A police spokesman Kashav Kumar says the authorities have responded by putting the army in control of the two regions.
