Pair released over port weapons
Felixstowe Port
The weapons were found in a car on Sunday night
Two people arrested after a vehicle containing "a number of weapons" was stopped at a busy port have been released.

The suspects, a man and a woman who are both British and white, were arrested in the early hours of Tuesday morning at Felixstowe in Suffolk.

Scotland Yard said the pair were questioned at a central London police station and released at 0100 BST on Wednesday.

A police spokesman said the investigation by the Metropolitan Police anti-terrorist branch was continuing.

Customs officers found the weapons inside a car on Sunday.

Part of the port was sealed off on Monday night as bomb squad officers joined customs teams to examine the vehicle.

Scotland Yard refused to comment on any links the pair might have with specific terrorist groups.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: "Officers from the Anti-Terrorist Branch arrested a man and a woman under the Terrorism Act 2000.

"The arrests are as a result of a vehicle being stopped at Felixstowe by HM Customs and Excise on 21 April.

"We requested the assistance of 621 Squadron Explosive Ordnance Disposal as a precaution."

Felixstowe is the largest container port in the UK.
