Pembroke murder suspect remanded
The mother of one was found stabbed in a garden
A man charged with the murder of a young mother from west Wales has been remanded to Swansea crown court next month.
Robert Watson, 34, from Pembroke, was arrested after the body of Cindy McAteer, 29, was found dead in a garden in Main Street, Pembroke, around 0700 BST on Saturday. Sandwich bar worker Ms McAteer was fatally stabbed just yards from her home and had tried to call for help by crawling to the front door of the nearest house but collapsed. Mr Watson, who also faced charges of threatening to kill two other people and an offence of aggravated burglary when he appeared before magistrates in Haverfordwest, was remanded until 3 May. Ms McAteer, who had a young daughter, is thought to have been born in Ireland but had not lived there for a while. The road was closed for several hours on Saturday while police carried out a search of the area. An incident room was set up at Pembroke Dock Police Station. |
