Drink boy 'could have died'
The boys had spent the evening drinking
Police have launched an investigation after three boys between the ages of 10 and 12 were admitted to hospital suffering from the effects of alcohol.
Officers are trying to trace the adult who supplied the drink to the trio. Police in Stirling said they were shocked by the age of the children involved. The boys, who all live in the Plean area, fell ill after they spent the evening drinking.
After being assessed in accident and emergency, they were detained overnight in the children's ward. However, the condition of the 10-year-old boy gave greatest cause for concern at one stage. He was vomiting and his body temperature had to be raised because it was dangerously low. A doctor said his symptoms could have led to cardiac arrest and even death. Police said they hoped the incident would encourage other children not to gamble with their lives. They are now following a definite line of enquiry as they attempt to find the adult responsible. |
