Keynote speakers at the first major business conference of the year, scheduled for 22 and 23 April, include trade and industry secretary Patricia Hewitt, home secretary David Blunkett, and Bank of England deputy governor Mervyn King.

The following speakers are due to address the conference at the times indicated (All times are British Summer Time, GMT + 1) :

Monday 22 April

  • 1000 Estelle Morris MP, Secretary of state for education and skills
  • 1030 Iain Duncan Smith MP, Conservative leader
  • 1415 Patricia Hewitt MP, secretary of state for trade and industry
  • 1600 Duncan Mitchell, Cisco Systems vice president UK and Ireland

Tuesday 23 April

  • 1100 Michael Howard, Conservative shadow chancellor
  • 1230 Mervyn King, Bank of England deputy governor
  • 1300 David Blunkett, home secretary

On Monday, there will also be themed discussion sessions on the interaction between government and businesses, and boosting business productivity.

These start at 1130 and 1445 respectively.

These will be followed on Tuesday by discussion sessions on Britain's place in the global market, featuring former chancellor Kenneth Clarke, and the role of business in an inclusive society.

Tuesday's sessions are scheduled to start at 0930 and 1130.
