More violence in Kashmir

The authorities in Indian-administered Kashmir say Muslim separatists have killed five members of an Indian army patrol in an ambush in a mountainous area of the Poonch district of Jammu.

Police said the casualties included a senior Indian officer.

The militant group Jamiat-ul-Mujahedin said it was responsible.

Meanwhile, officials in Pakistan-administered Kashmir say a civilian was killed last night in cross-border firing by Indian troops.

The deputy commissioner of the southern Rawalkot district Liaqat Hussain said the twenty-year old man was shot at Darah sher Khan, a border village in the Hajira sector.
