Man charged over Pembroke murder
Cindy Mcateer
The mother of one was found stabbed in a garden
Detectives investigating the murder of a woman in west Wales have charged a 34-year-old local man.

Robert Watson from Pembroke, was arrested after the body of Cindy McAteer, 29, was found dead in a garden in Main Street, Pembroke, around 0700 BST on Saturday.

The sandwich bar worker was fatally stabbed just yards from her home and had tried to get help by crawling to the front door of the nearest house but collapsed.

Mr Watson also faces charges of threats to kill against two other people and an offence of aggravated burglary.

He is due to appear before Haverfordwest magistrates on Tuesday.

Ms McAteer, who had a young daughter, is thought to have been born in Ireland but had not lived there for a while.

The road was closed for several hours on Saturday while police carried out a search of the area.

An incident room was set up at Pembroke Dock Police Station.
