UK newspaper makes Libyan apology

A British newspaper, The Sunday Telegraph, has printed an apology to the son of the Libyan leader, Muammar Qaddafi, over two articles it published in 1995 alleging his involvement in a massive international plot to launder money.

The paper said it accepted there was no truth in the allegations it had made against Mr Saif Al-Islam Qaddafi.

It also agreed to make a substantial contribution to his legal costs.

The paper agreed to drop its claims against the Libyan leader's son just two days after the beginning of a trial at the High Court in London.
