In pictures: Return to Jenin
The battle of the Jenin has become an emotive issue in the Middle East conflict.
As hundreds of Palestinians returned home, Israeli and Palestinian officials expressed a willingness to cooperate with a UN fact-finding mission to establish the truth about what happened there.
A US envoy to the Middle East says what happened in the camp caused enormous human suffering for thousands of Palestinians
Families have been scouring the rubble in the hope of finding what remained of their belongings
Reports say some 40 Palestinian bodies have been recovered but the stench of death suggests there could be more to come
There is no running water or electricity and the centre of the camp is a mass of pulverised concrete and twisted iron
United Nations' workers have moved into the area with water and food
A number of people have been wounded by opening booby trapped doors Palestinian gunmen intended for Israeli troops
