Former Rwanda leader's home searched
Rwandan radio says police have searched the home of the former president, Pasteur Bizimungu. Documents containing propaganda aimed at creating hatred among the population were found, police officers said. Mr Bizimungu was the first president appointed after the Rwandan Patriotic Front forced out the Hutu-led government under which hundreds of thousands of people, mainly Tutsis, were killed in 1994. Political activity is prohibited in Rwanda, and Mr Bizimungu was detained briefly last year, when he announced he was forming his own political party. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
