Police hunt armed gang
Kwik Save store
Three armed raiders are thought to have escaped
Police sealed off an area in Manchester to search for armed robbers who tried to hold up a supermarket.

A search was carried out at a wooded area near the Kwik Save supermarket in Wilbraham Road, Chorlton, but the robbers had fled.

Police had foiled a raid at the supermarket after being called at 0720 BST on Saturday.

Two men were arrested but it is thought another three escaped and the search for them was continuing on Saturday.

The force helicopter and police dogs were involved in the hunt.

Inspector Philip Haworth, of Greater Manchester Police, said a gun was seen by staff at Kwik Save but nobody had been injured in the raid.
